After a long day at play at our activity center or a relaxing night at our overnight resort why not pamper your pet at our Doggy Spa?

Grooming Services

Grooming and bathing are available by appointment and we will accommodate same day appointments that may be available. Dog grooming is a matter of personal taste, please spend a few minutes at the beginning of your appointment so we can discuss your preferences and your pet’s grooming history. We believe your pets grooming visit should be enjoyable and fun. We allow time to bond and pamper them to make grooming a more comfortable and easy experience for them.  Prices are subject to change based on the condition of the coat, temperament of your pet, size, and breed. All telephone quotes are estimates and can only be confirmed after initial examination of your pet’s condition.

We offer many services here at FILTHY FURRY FRIENDS

Bath time  - We use all natural shampoos and conditioners to help deep clean, deodorize and leave your pet’s coat looking healthy, shiny and smelling fresh.

Medicated Soak - Special medicated shampoos are available upon request. We have many treatments that provide relief for itching, hotspots, bacteria, crusty skin, Dandruff, and bites. Perfect for sensitive skin and dogs with allergies.

Hand Drying – All our dogs are hand dried. Each pet will be given our total and undivided personal attention.  We use high velocity dryers that allow us to fully blow out your dogs coat. This process will allow us to remove old undercoat and dander also helps enhance your dogs circulation.  The removal of dander reduces airborne elements that cause allergies and creates a healthier living environment for you and your pooch!

Furminator Shed-less Treatment – This is a anti-shedding treatment that you will be amazed at the amount of unwanted pet hair that comes from your pet! The secret is a tool designed to stop the shedding where it begins in the undercoat. This treatment has been proven to reduce shedding from 60 to 80 percent. By reducing the amount of pet hair, you are reducing the amount of dander and airborne elements that cause allergic reactions in many people, and your pet is much cooler and more comfortable. The Furminator treatment is ideal for Labs, Goldens, Collies, Corgies, Shepherds, and all breeds with shedding undercoats.

Ear Cleaner- Our ear cleaner will cut through the toughest wax! We carefully remove wax buildup to help control bacteria and yeast infections.  This is great for our pets with recurring infections. We love pink and healthy ears!

Dental Care- We believe dental care is a very important part of your pets healthcare. Regular treatments help keep teeth clean reducing the risk of gum disease, removing plaque, and help control bad breath. Clients will take their toothbrush home with them so they can continue to have a bright fresh clean smile.

Phyllis Kerrigan BIO

Filthy Furry Friends

Phyllis KerriganMy name is Phyllis Kerrigan. I am a graduate of Great Lakes Academy of Professional Pet Styling. I have always known I wanted to work with animals since I was a little girl. Making the decision to go back to school this late in life and be able to learn something that I have always wanted to do but never had the chance has truly been a life changing rewarding experience for me.  Dog grooming has given me the chance to meet and work with new pets everyday. It makes my day when my little or big client comes in and I am able to make them feel better with a warm soothing bubble bath and a fresh new haircut.

It is really a great feeling to see you smile as your pet proudly walks out tail wagging and excited showing off their new haircut. I am looking forward to meeting you and your special pets.

Phyllis resides in Coal City with her husband, daughter and two Shih-Tzu’s Dwight and Harley.

Phyllis and “Filthy Furry Friends” brought to our facility a service that is beyond your typical grooming experience.  She genuinely cares about the animals and her work. We are excited to have Phyllis and “Filthy Furry Friends” join our facility as I am certain she will make each and every one of our clients happy. Phyllis comes with great references and praise and will surely win you over too!

Animal Massage/Reiki

Massage for animals is not really a luxury any more –just like people, pets also benefit from touch-for therapy or the ultimate relaxation!    You may think animal massage is just like petting but it’s really a purposeful touch applied to the muscles and skin of the animal for a specific outcome, which could be related to age, illness or competition.

Benefits of Animal Massage:

  • Improves circulation & range of motion
  • Stress reduction & relaxation
  • Calms abused animals by introducing them to non-threatening touch
  • Improves immune system by stimulating lymphatic circulation & removing toxins
  • Pre-surgery to calm animal & post-surgery to help release anesthesia from body & promote healing

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a gentle, noninvasive holistic energy healing system the yields results for the body, mind & spirit.  The practitioner channels healing energy through her hands to the client, either directly or from a distance.  The sessions are done in a quiet atmosphere with soft music playing.

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that may also promote healing.  It is a safe, gentle, non-invasive form of hands-on healing that increases energy; it can reduce pain, produce deep relaxation and give a general feeling of well-being.

If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress.  If it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

The word reiki is made up of two Japanese words – Rei and Ki and can be defined as a non-physical healing energy made up of life force energy guided by Higher Power or spiritually guided life force energy.

“Rei” describes the universal, boundless aspect of energy.

“Ki” is the life force energy that is around and in us.

The first of the Usui symbols is commonly known as The Power Symbol. Pronounced in Japanese as Cho- Koo- Ray, it is learned in Reiki levels 1 & 2. It means Put all the power of the Universe here and is most often drawn by the practitioner’s dominant hand on each of his/her palms before sending treatment. Additionally, it is often drawn on the recipient’s Crown Chakra before a session thoroughly begins. It can be placed wherever the practitioner feels whether on him/herself or the recipient.
This the second symbol used in Usui Reiki. It is taught in Reiki level 2 is most commonly known as The Emotional Symbol. It is pronounced Say- Hay- Kee. It means God and humanity become one. It is most often used when there is an emotional release or build up in the recipient.
This is Usui Reiki Distant Healing Symbol. It is taught in level 2 and means May the Buddha in me connect to the Buddha in you to promote harmony and peace. Pronounced Hon- Sha- Zee- Show- Nen, it travels unhindered through time and space. It is most often used in distant healings and attunements and is perhaps the jewel of understanding Reiki.
This beautiful and powerful symbol was not originally taught in Usui Reiki Ryoho. However, the symbol gained so much popularity, it became systematic to include it in attunements. Pronounced Dye- Ko- Myo or Doomo, it Connects the body and the mind in order to grow spiritually. Dumo is used whenever the practitioner feels and often in every session.
The Usui Master symbol, Dai Ko Myo is taught and given in the Master Level. This is the last symbol Usui used in attunements. Like it’s Tibetan sister, it heals the spiritual state of the recipient and connects the individual with his/her greatest potential. It means Great Being of the Universe Shine on Me.

Are animals receptive?

Yes, they respond very well to Reiki and massage techniques.  Animals absorb Reiki energy a lot easier than humans do.  Occasionally they will not sit for an entire session, receiving Reiki only for a few minutes, wondering off and returning a few more times for more healing.

Reiki can also be sent effectively from a distance, which means it can be used on animals that are skittish or aggressive without stressing them or their keepers.

Note: Massage & Reiki are not a Substitute for veterinary care.  A veterinarian should be consulted regularly, particularly for issues that may require diagnosis or medical treatment present themselves.
